What the Hell is going on down there in Texas? After 8 months in jail, they are dropping charges against the two white "friends" of a Black man who was run over and dragged underneath a vehicle in which they had been making a Liquor Run....
The theory is that Brandon McLelland had refused to ride in the vehicle any more because the Driver was too drunk...he was then run over, and dragged beneath the car for 70 yards....
A Special Prosecutor said there was no choice but to drop the charges because there was simply not enough evidence to sustain them...
I think we have seen enough cases where people are railroaded and convicted without sufficient evidence just because the Police and Prosecutors want to pin the crime on somebody and get a conviction.
We know damn well this happens all the time.
The question is whether this is one of those times, and whether the Prosecutors are backing out *before* making a mistake....or whether they are simply being forced to admit they cannot *prove* the case....no matter how obvious it may seem.
Latest word is that a Trucker has come forward and stated that he might have accidentally run over the man on that night....
This, of course, would exonerate the white friends of the deceased Black man....
IF they are indeed innocent, how terrible it must be to be accused of murdering somebody who was your friend?
But it would be even more terrible to be convicted of it without sufficient evidence.
I think people need to suspend their judgement in this case, but still agitate for the investigation to continue.
And that is the question: will there be a sustained effort to find out what happened on that lonely Texas road?
